Admission Requirements
Admission into the B. Ed (English Language) programme will be through the University Matriculation Examination (UTME) and by direct entry. To qualify for admission, the following qualifications are required:
For UTME Candidates
Candidates for the B.Ed. (English Language) must possess the senior secondary school certificate or its equivalent with at least credits in five ‘0’ level subjects including credit passes in English Language and Mathematics plus any three Arts, Social Science or Science subjects.
For Direct Entry Candidates
At least merit passes in any two major subjects in N.C.E. with five ‘0’ level credits as required for UTME candidates. Candidates with double major subjects in N.C.E., with credit passes at SSCE or GCE ‘0’ Level in three other subjects are also eligible provided the double major subject is passed at a minimum of merit level. Candidates with’ J{ Level or other equivalent qualifications in relevant subjects are also eligible for direct entry. •
Teaching Practice Requirements
Students will be required to take two Teaching Practice Courses (DTE 3112 and DTE 3212) during the long vacation. During the period, students will be required to provide educational, vocational and psychological counselling services for students in the junior and senior secondary school classes.
