ACU FM RADIO SET TO TAKE OFF
Ajayi Crowther University Frequency Modulated (FM) radio station is set to begin test transmission soon. This was disclosed by the Vice-Chancellor, Rt. Rev. Professor Dapo F. Asaju, yesterday, when the University signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the firm handling the equipment for the station. He urged the Engineers to ensure that the facilities in the radio station were top-notch, stating that the station would be under the watch of the Department of Communication and Media Studies.
He said he expects the station to be markedly different from what obtains in other stations by having decent programmes. He noted that with the approval of the National Universities Commission (NUC) for the department to mount postgraduate programmes, it would leverage on the station to intensify the training of students. He expressed confidence in the ability of staff of the department and the current Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, Professor Muyiwa Poopola, an erudite professor of Mass Communication, to put the station to good use in serving the department and the University.
Professor Poopola, who was at the event, expressed hope that the station would be on air to cover and broadcast the Vice- Chancellor’s press conference to announce events for the 11th Convocation Ceremony of the University. The press conference is scheduled to hold on Monday, October 14, 2019. The Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor Jacob Adeniyi, Registrar, Mrs. Adenike Fatogun, University Librarian, Dr. Mrs. Beatrice Fabunmi, Professor Alero Akeredolu, Chairman of the Ceremonials Committee of the University, and some members of staff were present during the event which took place in the Vice-Chancellor’s office.
