AJAYI CROWTHER UNIVERSITY PARTICIPATES IN SCIENCE EXPO IN ABUJA, EXHIBITS TWO PRODUCTS
The Departments of Computer Engineering and Electrical/Electronic Engineering in the Faculty of Engineering, Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo, participated in the recently concluded Science and Technology Innovation, Expo 2020, organized by the Ministry of Science and Technology in Abuja. At the four-day event held at the Eagle Square and ended on March 20, 2020, two of our Engineering lecturers A.S. Oladokun and I.K.Akpodonor, exhibited two inventions.
Oladokun showcased Precision Grain-Planting Hexapod Robot while Akpodonor exhibited the prototype of an Automated Palm Oil Milling Machine. Scores of visitors came to the exhibition stand of Ajayi Crowther University and made inquiries about the workings of the items.
The Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, also visited the Ajayi Crowther University stand and expressed happiness that the young lecturers were exhibiting the two items that have the capacity to enhance farming when put to use. Oladokun explained that the robot has the capacity to plant grains in an automated mode while Akpodonor said his product can boost the palm oil milling process. No less than 20 prospective investors, who visited the stand, expressed delight at the work and said they would want to see them used by farmers. Some of the visitors, including staff of the Ministry of Science and Technology, gave their views on how to make the products more effective.
When the two Engineers returned to the campus, the Dean, Faculty of Engineering, Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo, Professor Adeoye Olatunbosun led them to present their certificate of participation to the Vice-Chancellor. The Vice-Chancellor, Rt. Rev. Professor Dapo Asaju received them in his office and expressed happiness that they represented the University well at the event.
‘I am proud of you’ he told the young men and urged them to continue to do the University proud.
