Revd. Canon. Prof. K.T Jaiyeoba – Vice-Chancellor
Revd. Canon Professor Kolawole Timothy JAIYEOBA, born on 18th April 1953, Professor K. T. Jaiyeoba is an alumnus of the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University), Ile –Ife from where he obtained his Bachelor of Pharmacy degree in 1974 and M.Phil in 1977. Thereafter, he proceeded to the University of Manchester, UK where he obtained a Ph.D degree in 1979. He is a Priest of the Anglican Church.
Prof. Jaiyeoba has had an extremely brilliant and accomplished academic career spanning over 33 years, having spent 19 years as a Professor. His high academic profile and productivity was justified by the high number of postgraduate students he had supervised at both Masters and Ph.D levels over the years, as well as the large number of research publications in both local and international journals in his area of discipline.
He started his teaching career at the Obafemi Awolowo University in 1977 before he moved to University of Ibadan in 1982 as one of the pioneer staff to start the new Pharmacy programme of that University. He has held positions of Head of Department and Dean of Faculty for ten years. He has also served in the management team of many national and international bodies. He was the Coordinator of the Academic link programme between Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Ibadan, and School of Pharmacy, University of London, United Kingdom from 1991 to 1995.
He is a member of several academic and professional societies including the Institute of Public Analysts of Nigeria (PAN) and the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM). His high professional standing earned him the Fellowship of the West African Postgraduate College of Pharmacy and the Fellowship of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria.
He received Boots Pure Drug Prize for the best performance in Pharmaceutics in 1974. He was a recipient of the prestigious Commonwealth Universities Academic Staff Fellowship in 1984/85. He also received the Award of Excellence from NAPA and the Merit Award of Oyo State Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria.
Prof. Jaiyeoba is happily married and has four children.
