Rt. Rev. Professor Dapo Folorunsho Asaju
The Governing Council of Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo has approved the appointment of Rt. Rev. Professor Dapo Folorunsho Asaju as the new Vice-Chancellor of the University. Born 16th November 1961, Prof D. F. Asaju is an alumnus of the University of Ilorin from where he obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1983; Master of Arts in Christian Studies in 1985 and his Ph.D. in Christian Studies in 2003 from the same University.
Professor Asaju has had an extremely brilliant and accomplished academic career spanning over 32 years, right from his days as Graduate Assistant, Christian Studies University of Ilorin. He became Associate professor in 1999 and Professor of Christian Studies in 2004.
The Vice-Chancellor was acting Dean, Faculty of Arts, Lagos State University, 2005 – 2007, acting Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) Lagos State University; member Governing Council, Lagos State University (2006 -2008), member, Advisory Council to Government of Lagos State, Visiting Associate Professor Bayreuth University, Germany. He was one time Chairman, Academic Staff Union, Lagos State University, 1988 – 1993.
Bishop Asaju’s high academic profile and productivity was justified by the high number of post graduate students he had supervised at both Master and Ph.D. levels over the years as well as the member of research publications both in local and international journals in his area of discipline.
Professor Asaju, is a member of several and academic societies including Constitution Drafting Committee for inauguration of Lagos West Diocese, member Theological resource Grading for GAFCON Church of Nigeria, among others.
The Rt. Rev’d Asaju was Vicar of Church of Epiphany, Ibara Estate; Church of Transfiguration, Ketu Badagry Expressway; Chaplain Chapel of Light, Lagos State University 2006 – 2009. A Bishop Theologian, Church of Nigeria and Rector, Crowther Graduate Theological Seminary. Bishop Asaju is married to Barrister Harriet Seun Asaju, they are blessed with children.
The Vice-Chancellor assumed duty 1st October 2015.
