The ‘EMPATHIE’ team of the Department of Computer Science of Ajayi Crowther University participated in the just concluded Federal Ministry of Science and Technology’s Technology and Innovation Expo’ 2017 with the theme ‘Science, Technology and Innovation for Nigeria’s Economic Diversification’. The exhibition which was held between 3rd – 7th April, 2017 at the Eagle Square, Abuja had in attendance several top government dignitaries, directors of Science and Technology Institutes and numerous research and development agencies.
The programme featured a welcome message by the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Science and Technology – Belema Wakama, goodwill messages were delivered by the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, CEO/Editor-in-Chief of Daily Trust, Honourable Minister of the Federal capital Territory, and the Honourable Minister of Science, Technology and Higher Education of the Portuguese Republic. There were four interactive technical sessions and a researcher/investors forum.
After the opening ceremony with the introduction of all the participating tertiary institutions, institutes and entrepreneurs, the Ajayi Crowther University’s pavilion attracted participants and visitors such as the Director of Research and Development (NUC); the House Representative’s Committee on Science and Technology with their Chairman, Honourable Beni Lar; Dr. Chris Agu from the National Information Technology and Development Agency (NITDA); Dr. Ale Felix from the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASDRA); the representative of NOTAP; Worldskills International’s country representative - Mr. Bahaman Rahman. Others include parents of former alumni of the University; Mr. Oladipo Farounbi (a graduate of the Department of Computer Science who is now the Head of the Multimedia Team of Voice of Nigeria [VON]); several organisations and research centres; visitors of the Anglican faith and friends of the amiable Vice-Chancellor of ACU.
