NIGERIA NEEDS TO BE RESTRUCTURED - ASAJU

The Vice-Chancellor Ajayi Crowther University, Rt. Rev. Professor Dapo f. Asaju, has lent support to calls for the restructuring of Nigeria, saying it was inevitable for peace and stability in the nation. He stated that recent turn of events in the country has made it expedient that the nation undergoes restructuring in order to avoid a revolt by those who feel short changed in the system. He regretted that the nation seem to have lost its sense of humanity going by the massive and gruesome killings in some states.

Asaju made the comment when he received the Management Team of Impact Group, comprising Impact Business Radio and other subsidiaries, who paid a courtesy visit to the Management Team of Ajayi Crowther University on Monday.

Professor Asaju said the leadership in Nigeria seem to be paying lip service to restructuring, insisting that the earlier the matter is addressed the better for the country. He told his audience that he has not lost hope in Nigeria, stating that good leadership holds the key to the nation’s progress.

He commended the Chief Executive Officer of the Impact Group for his vision in putting together the outfit which is expected to be impactful to the people. He said the University will find areas of collaboration with the Ibadan based organization, that will be mutually beneficial.

Earlier, the Chief Executive Officer of the visiting organization, Deacon Owolabi Oladejo, said the organization has the first and only business radio in Nigeria, currently broadcasting from Ibadan, a television station broadcasting on star Times, a Language school, a Business school and another upcoming terrestrial television station to broadcast to the entire Yoruba speaking areas of the nation.

He said integrity was one of the core values of his organization. He stated that the major reason for the team’s visit was to find ways of collaboration with the University. Later, Owolabi’s team was led on a facility tour of the Department of Mass Communication of Ajayi Crowther University, by Professor Benjamin Poopola, who heads the Department.
