In January, 1964, Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM) was registered as a non-profit professional and national organization under the Nigerian Companies Act and was accorded recognition by many international institutes including the British Institute of Management, the American Management Association and the Indian Institute of Management.
In June 2003, the institute was granted a Charter by Act 14 of the National Assembly to determine what standards of knowledge and skills are to be attained by persons seeking to become members of the management profession, and raising those standards from time to time as circumstances may permit.
