The division coordinate activities that take place in the units.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Acquisitions Unit<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>The functions in the Unit include:<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>collection development i.e. procurement of books through purchases, donations, gifts and endowment;<\/li><li>keeping records of books purchased;<\/li><li>verification of books on order;<\/li><li>accessioning and stamping of books purchased;<\/li><li>facilitating book purchases between Library clientele and Publishers for personal use; and<\/li><li>preparation of lists of new arrivals (books).<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Cataloguing and Classification Unit<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>The functions in the Unit include:<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>catalogue Library materials;<\/li><li>classify Library materials;<\/li><li>manually and electronically create and maintain records of the Library&#8217;s holdings;<\/li><li>label Library materials; and<\/li><li>move the processed materials to their designated Units (e.g. Circulation, Reference and Serials)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Serials Unit<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The functions and services in the Unit include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>procurement of journals, newspapers and magazines through subscriptions or donations;<\/li><li>processing of Serials for the use of the clientele;<\/li><li>arrangement of Serials on the shelves;<\/li><li>making Serials available to users on demand;<\/li><li>keeping statistics and generate reports of users of Serials;<\/li><li>displaying current Serials;<\/li><li>providing current awareness services; and<\/li><li>maintaining bibliographic details of Serials in the Kardex as well as Serials card catalogue.<\/li><\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Division comprises Acquisitions, Cataloguing and Classification Units, Serials and Bindery Unit.
