Prof. B. O. Oloruntimehin – Representing Senate

Professor Benjamin Olatunji OLORUNTIMEHIN, was born on 11th August 1939. He obtained his B.A.(Hons) from University College, Ibadan (a College of London University) in 1963 and Ph.D in History from the University of Ibadan in 1966. He is a Fellow of Historical Society of Nigeria and Nigerian Academy of Letters. He has been a Professor for 35 years in various Universities in Nigeria and overseas.

He was Dean Faculty of Arts, University of Ife, Ile Ife, from 1975 – 1977. He was also Dean, Faculty of Administration of the same University between 1977 and 1979. Between October 2002 and March 2003, he was Ag. Executive Director, Development Policy Centre, Ibadan. He became the pioneer Dean, Faculty of Humanities, and Chairman Committee of Deans Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo between January 2006 and December 2009.

Professor Oloruntimehin has over 20 honours and distinctions to his credit s    panning five decades of meritorious academic work. He had travelled far and wide undertaking educational visits and Visiting Fellowships in the United Kingdom, France and the United States of America. He is widely published both nationally and internationally with 8 books and monographs, 10 edited books, contribution in 15 books and publication of 30 journal articles review of over 14 books to his credit. He had also served as Editor/Editor in Chief or member of Editorial Board to a number of journals.
Prof. Oloruntimehin is happily married with children and enjoys gardening and photography.
