SACOBA HOLDS REUNION, GIVES AWARDS
Saint Andrew’s Old Boys Association (SACOBA), held its 31st reunion and 124th Founders day at Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo, on 17th and 18th March 2020. The highlights of the event include the commissioning of its Secretariat, Thanksgiving Service, and Awards Ceremony. During the Thanksgiving Service, which held at Saint Andrew’s Chapel of the University, Rt. Rev. E.B. Dahunsi, Bishop of Idoani Diocese (Anglican Communion), an old boy of the school, said the school which has transformed into Ajayi Crowther University, has had an impact in the nation, given that it was the first Teachers Training College in Nigeria, and existed for 124 years. He said as far back as 1908, students from Easter Nigeria, and other parts had come to the college to study. He implored the old students to keep the legacy of the College.
He expressed gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor of Ajayi Crowther University, Rt. Rev. Prof. Dapo Asaju for the tremendous transformation that has occurred in the University under his watch. He said, apart from the physical transformation, there was a high emphasis on the moral upbringing of the students, and discipline. He said Ajayi Crowther University has done very well in retaining the legacies of Old Saint Andrew’s College. He prayed for God’s protection and reward for the Vice-Chancellor for the good work he had done in the University.
Later the new Secretariat of the Association, located within the campus, was commissioned. Awards were given to deserving members. Before the Award Ceremony which held at the ultramodern Modupe and Foloronso Alakija Law Auditorium in the University, the Vice-Chancellor, Rt. Rev. Professor Dapo Asaju was made an honorary member of the association. Awards for meritorious service were given to Emeritus Professor Ayo Bamgbose, Pa Timothy Ajayi Fasoranti, Rt. Rev. Prof. Dapo F. Asaju, Dr. Ebenezer Oluwole Olukoju (posthumous) and Mogaji Dr. Solomon Olubanjo Oladiti (posthumous).
