VC COMMENDS RETIRED WORKERS OF AJAYI CROWTHER UNIVERSITY, URGES STAFF TO BE DILIGENT

The Vice Chancellor Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo, Rt. Rev. Dapo Asaju, has commenced retired staff of the University for their Contribution to the growth of the institution and prayed God to guide them in their retirement. He thanked some of them for their pioneering roles in the establishment of the University about 12 years ago. He made the comment at the send forth ceremony organized by the university yesterday, for some retired staff of the University. He thanked them for their efforts and urged current staff of the university to stay focused on their job and avoid distractions.

16 retired staff of the university, including five Professors, Former University Librarian and 12 other former members of staff of the University were honoured at the event. They came for the occasion with some family members for the event which began with a church service, where Professor Oladunni Akinnowo , Chairman of Ceremonials Committee gave the exhortation. She said everything that has a beginning is bound to have an end, drawing largely from Chapter three of the book of  Ecclesiastes  the bible. She enjoined those currently in service to know that their day of exit will also come and asked them to be mindful of how they serve, given that the end is more important than the beginning, saying they would be remembered for their dedication to duty and unalloyed commitment to the development of the University.

After the service, a reception commenced in the same venue of the service, Crowther Hall. The Registrar, Mrs. Adenike Fatogun, gave a welcome speech where she thanked all and sundry for attending the event.

 The Vice-Chancellor, in his remarks, thanked the retirees for their  their service to the University. He named all  17 of them one after the other, and reeled out their contributions to the University when they were in service. He thanked them for their services. He urged current staff  to be diligent at work and told those who write anonymous petitions  against the management to desist from such act. He told them to repent from such acts because if they discourage him and the management from continuing with the spirit with which they have piloted the affairs of the university, it would affect everybody in the system.

Later, material and cash gifts were given to the retired staff. The Vice- Chancellor presented the gift and cash to the five professors and former Librarian, including Professor Tunji Titilola who is still in the service of the University, but was included because of his service as former Deputy Vice-Chancellor. The Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor Jacob Adeniyi and Registrar also presented gifts to other retirees.

In his response, on behalf of the retirees, Mr. Richard Olorunsola, thanked the University for the event and urged the Vice-Chancellor not to be discouraged by detractors . He thanked him for the massive developmental strides that have taken place in the University under his watch.
