ACU VC Commends Counselling Association of Nigeria

Professor J. O. Ayodabo addresses the conference on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor.

The Vice-Chancellor of Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo, Professor Timothy Abiodun Adebayo, has commended the Oyo State Chapter of the Counselling Association of Nigeria(CASSON) for choosing an apt theme for its 2023 annual conference. Professor Adebayo made the comment through Professor J.O. Ayodabo, Dean of Postgraduate School, who represented the Vice-Chancellor at the opening ceremony of the CLASSON conference yesterday at the Modupe and Folorunso Law Auditorium. Professor Ayodabo also gave the audience a brief history of the University, stating that it has a long history of academic excellence dating back to its days as Saint Andrew’s College.

He said the three-day conference which has the theme ‘Resolving National Integration and Security Challenges’ is apt for this period in the life of the nation, and urged the participants to come up with a communique and recommendations that would help the nation tackle its challenges in those areas.

In his address, the national chairman of the Association, professor Malami Umar Tambuwal, Vice- Chancellor, Shehu Shagari College of Education, Sokoto, who was reparented by the National Public Relations Officer of the Association, Dr. Ndidi Mercy Ofole, expressed delight with the enviable height attained by the Oyo chapter of the Association, and it a successful conference. The Oyo state Chapter Chairman Rev. Dr. Remi Akinrinola thanked Ajayi Crowther University for consenting to host the conference and reiterated the importance of the theme, and hoped that the conference will do justice to it.

Top officials of the Oyo State Government, including the Commissioner of Education, Barrister Rahman Abdul-Raheem, were represented at the occasion. The Dean of, the Faculty of Education, Ajayi Crowther University, Professor Ronke Ogunmakin, was represented by Dr. Joy Ajaero. Hon. Olagunju Olalekan, an Oyo-based Lawyer, was chairman of the occasion.

Fellows of the association were also in attendance while new people, including Professor Paul Akanbi , Dean, Faculty of Management Sciences, were among the ten recipients of award of excellence by the Association.
