FACULTY OF COMMUNICATION AND MEDIA STUDIES
The development of the Faculty of Communication and Media Studies, Ajayi Crowther University follows historical trajectory. It was at inception a department under the Faculty of Humanities. (Department of Communication and Language Arts). Following the directives of the NUC, the department was relocated to the Faculty of Social and Management Sciences (FSMS) and later moved to the Faculty of Social Sciences (FSS) when the Faculty of Social and Management Sciences was disarticulated into two faculties. Its eventual transmutation into a faculty took place in 2020 in anticipation of the unbundling of the Mass Communication programme by the National Universities Commission.

ACADEMIC PROGRAMME(S) IN THE FACULTY
The faculty commenced with one academic programme – B.Sc. Mass Communication. However, with the unbundling of the Mass Communication programme in Nigerian Universities by the National Universities Commission, the faculty is strategically positioned to run the full complements of the unbundled elements. Recently, under the current administration, the university approached the National Universities Commission and secured approval to commence three additional programmes after resource verification. All academic programmes of the faculty run under three departments, namely; Department of Broadcasting, Information and Media Studies, Department of Journalism and Media Studies and the Department of Public Relations and Advertising.
POSTGRADUATE PROGRAMMES
The Faculty of Communication and Media Studies currently runs the following postgraduate programme:
- Postgraduate Diploma in Mass Communication

- PhD in Mass Communication

The third department exists for administrative convenience in anticipation of the approval of the NUC to commence other programmes in Public Relations and Advertising. Currently, this department is the coordinating centre for all PRAD courses.
