ACU Deputy VC to Deliver Conference Keynote Address

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo, Professor Muyiwa Popoola, will be the Keynote Speaker at the 4th Biennial conference of the African Society for the Study of Sociology and Ethics of Religions (ASSOSER), scheduled to hold at the University of Ibadan between June 18 and 22, 2023.

The four-day event will have presentation of papers that will interrogate the effect of social cum new media on religion.

The conference will feature other notable academics such as Dr. Bolanle Oladejo, Associate Professor of Knowledge Management, Software Engineering and Artificial Intelligence, Professor Jacob Ayantayo, President of the society, and Professor Benson Igboin amongst others.

Other issues that participants are expected to present papers on include Digitalisation and Evangelism, Cyber Religion in Nigeria, Theological Issues in Digital Religions, and related matters. Prospective speakers are to present an abstract of not more than 250 words to the organisers not later than the middle of April.

Popoola, a Professor of Journalism, Communication, and Media Studies, bagged a Bachelor of Arts (B.A) Honours in Mass Communication with first-class honours from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka in 1999, awarded the Master of Science (M Sc) degree in Mass Communication by the University of Lagos, and awarded the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Media and Cultural Studies in 2012 at the University of Ibadan.
