Ajayi Crowther University to host Oyo District of ICAN

Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo, is set to host the next meeting of Oyo and District society of Institute of Chattered Accountants of Nigeria(ICAN). The Deputy Vice- Chancellor, Professor Olumuyiwa Popola, who is currently Acting Vice-Chancellor, disclosed this when he received members of the newly approved chapter of the institute in Ajayi Crowther University.

The members, who are populated by staff of the University, were led by the University Bursar, Mr. Ayodele John Olusanwo(FCA), who informed the acting Vice- Chancellor that the Institute has granted the request of the University to have a chapter of ICAN in the University, stating that the University has enough Chattered Accountants to populate the chapter. The Acting Vice- Chancellor, who stood in for the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Timothy Abiodun Adebayo, currently on a trip to South Korea, expressed delight that the University has been found worthy by ICAN to have a chapter. He recalled that the Institute had already made the University a centre, for its qualifying examination, stating that the latest development is a positive index for the University. He recalled that the Times Higher Education Sub-Saharan Africa ranking placed Ajayi Crowther University amongst the 50 best Universities in the continent and number 14 in Nigeria, saying that the University is not resting on its oars given that it would continue to work hard to improve its services and ranking.

‘ The University is blessed to have our current Vice- Chancellor who is development oriented, and has indeed shown that God brought him at this time to take a giant leap in the University’s development. He would ensure that the University is positively referenced at all times’ said the Deputy Vice-Chancellor.

He assured the members that the University is well disposed to hosting the ICAN Oyo district Society which is why it will give all necessary support to members to ensure that the hosting is successful. He noted that the appreciable number of Chattered Accountants in the University is a clear indication that the institution is keen on the development of its staff.

The Bursar later promised that in due course , more of the University staff, especially those in the Bursary, would qualify as Chattered Accountants. He also thanked the University for setting in motion a program that has enabled some students to become Chattered Accountants even before graduation
