15TH ACU CONVOCATION CEREMONIES: VC VISITS MAJOR STAKEHOLDERS
Towards the 15th Convocation Ceremonies of Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo, preparations are in top gear as the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Timothy Abiodun Adebayo has been leading his management team to visit some of the key stakeholders, intimating them about the coming ceremonies.
The ceremonies which begin on Friday 24 November, 2023 with the VC’s Press Conference in which Prof. Adebayo will be unfolding some of the achievements of the institution, will also feature the final Football Match of the VC’s Cup at The Sports Centre at 3 pm.
On Monday, 27 November, 2023, the ceremonies continue with Alumni Lecture and Reunion at The Modupe and Folorunso Alakija Law Auditorium by 10 am as well as Town and Gown Events, coming up at Palace, Rehabs and Oyo Markets by 2 in the afternoon.
In continuation, the 15th Convocation Ceremonies will equally be spiced by the Convocation Lecture on Tuesday, 28 November, 2023 at Modupe and Folorunso Alakija Law Auditorium with Emeritus Prof. Oluwagbenro Jegede educating and enlightening the audience with his erudite presentation by 11 in the morning. The day will not also pass without a Convocation Play at the Olajire Olaniran Auditorium by 5 p.m.
On Wednesday, 29 November, there will be a Commissioning of Projects at The Offa Metta and main Campuses by 9 a.m. and the Award of Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees at Crowther Hall by 11:00 in the morning.
The Grand Finale of the Ceremonies is on Thursday, 30 November 2023 with the Award of Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) Degrees and Honoris Causas at The Modupe and Folorunso Alakija Law Auditorium with Sir, Gbolahan Folayan, Mrs. Kate Isa and Barrister Dr. Taiwo Afolabi being the recipients of the prestigious honour.
Inviting the major stakeholders to the ceremonies, the VC was in Ibadan on Wednesday 25 October, 2023 along with his Deputy, Prof. Benjamin Olumuyiwa Popoola who is also the Chairman of the Ceremonial Committee where both of them met some important figures.
Among the personalities visited were, the Visitor to ACU, Bishop of the Ibadan Anglican Diocese and Chairman of the Supra Diocesan Board of West, Church of Nigeria, Most Reverend Dr Joseph Akinfenwa, the second ACU Vice Chancellor, Venerable Prof. Kolawole Timothy Jaiyeoba and a Council Member, Lord Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Ibadan North , representing House of Bishops, Rt Rev. Dr Wiliiams Aladekugbe.
Reacting, Most Revd Akinfenwa who was shocked by the surprise visit of the ACU team praised the VC for his humility as well as the honour extended to him, praying for the success of the ceremonies.
