OLANBIWONINU, AWOTUNDUN WIN $10,000 GRANT FOR ACU
Dr. Afolake Olanbiwoninu and Dr. Theresa Awotundun of the Faculty of Natural Sciences, Ajayi Crowther University, have been awarded a grant of $10,000 in prize money after representing ACU at a competitive funding initiative organized by Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) and ECOWAS.
The Project is title; Microbial-Based Fortification of Fermented African Locust Beans with Folate
While giving an overview of the grant during its presentation to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Timothy Abiodun Adebayo, Olanbiwoninu, who is the Sub-Dean, Faculty of Natural Science, said, “The Fortify Forward Innovation Challenge is a competitive funding initiative that supports innovative, community-driven approaches to address malnutrition in Africa.
“The total grant of $10,000 will support the transition from lab-scale prototype to pilot-scale implementation, including, Development of starter culture kits, Field trials and sensory studies, Community-based training for women food processors Data collection and impact assessment.”
