VC optimistic of more programmes approval by NUC

The Vice-Chancellor of Ajayi Crowther University, Prof Timothy Abiodun Adebayo, said he is optimistic of express and timely approval of the National Universities Commission (NUC) approval to commence the Undergraduate and post graduate programs in Guidance and Counselling, Pylosophy of Education, CyberSecurity and Data Sciences programmes, based on the favourable remarks of the NUC teams that visited the University on Saturday, August 16, 2025.

The VC also expressed the University’s readiness not to relent in its resolve to constantly improve on academic activities, while also expressing the University’s hunger for more undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.

While addressing the NUC Resource Assessment teams for Guidance and Counselling; Cyber Security and Data Sciences; and Philosophy of Education programmes, the Vice-Chancellor, who was represented by his deputy, Prof Muyiwa Popoola, said that ACU is committed to academic excellence, staff and students welfare and security.

Present at the event were the University Bursar, Dr Ayodele Olusanwo; Librarian, Dr Mrs Bosede Ajiboye; Dean of Postgraduate School, who is also the Chairman of the University’s Committee of Deans, Prof Paul Akanbi; Director of Academic Planning, Prof Bolanle Ibojo; Prof Ayobami Ayeni of Compter Science Department; Acting Head of the department of Computer Science, Dr Femi Ojo; Acting ICT Director, Dr Mayowa Oyediran; Director, Institute of Education, Prof Michael Olatunji; Dr Sunday Olawale of the Guidance and Counselling programme; and Directorate of Academic Planning Officer, Mr Tayo Adeniji.

Speaking with the NUC assessors, the VC said, “I will like to reaffirm the commitment of this University to the vision and mission of our founding fathers, which revolve around academic excellence, staff and students’ welfare and infrastructural development. All these are geared toward making learning both enjoyable and purposeful.

“At ACU, our curriculum is designed to prepare our students to compete globally and equipped with technical skills acquired from our Centre for Entrepreneusrhip.

“Our drive for more undergraduate and postgraduate programmes remains unquencing and this is hinged on our investments in facility and dedication of our staff. That is why staff welfare remains a central pillar of our mission.”

The Vice-Chancellor noted that in scholarship, there is no closure to research and knowledge, stating that the University management is always ready to listen to every advice aimed at improving the university academic image.

“At ACU, we understand perectly that education thrives in an environment where infrastructure supports learning. We are therefore very optimistic that express and timely approval will be granted by the NUC to commence the programmes, based on the very good remarks of the teams about the visit,” he added.
