A Historic Milestone: Prof. (Mrs.) Ebunoluwa Olufemi Oduwole Inaugurated as First Female Vice-Chancellor of Ajayi Crowther University
In a momentous event that marked a new chapter in the history of Ajayi Crowther University, Prof. (Mrs.) Ebunoluwa Olufemi Oduwole was officially inaugurated as the institution’s 5th Vice Chancellor on Tuesday, October 1, 2025. Her appointment is particularly significant as she becomes the first woman to occupy the esteemed position since the University’s establishment — a proud and progressive milestone for the institution and the academic community at large.
The inauguration ceremony, held on the University’s main campus, drew a distinguished gathering of guests from within and beyond the University community. Among those present were prominent figures from various sectors, including academia, the clergy, and public service.
The event was graced by the Visitor to the University, The Most Rev. Dr. Joseph Akinfenwa, along with several Anglican Archbishops, and other clerical dignitaries. Also in attendance were the Chairman of the University Governing Council, Dr. Olutoyin Okeowo, members of the Senate and Governing Council, principal officers, faculty members, administrative staff, students, and alumni.
Family members, friends, and well-wishers of the new Vice Chancellor were also present in large numbers, lending a celebratory and heartfelt tone to the occasion. The atmosphere was charged with pride, inspiration, and optimism as speakers paid glowing tributes to Prof. Oduwole’s academic achievements, leadership acumen, and vision for the University’s future.
