VC Joins ICAN to Celebrate 2025 World Accounting Day
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ebunoluwa Olufemi Oduwole, on Monday, November 10, 2025, joined hundreds of Ajayi Crowther University accounting students, executives of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), Oyo and District, and the University Bursar, Dr. Ayodele Olusanwo, to celebrate the 2025 World Accounting Day.
Speaking at the event held at the Welcome Centre, Prof. Oduwole congratulated all accounting students and their mentors while stating her long-standing relationship with ICAN. She appreciated the Institute for its recent courtesy visit and for organising the event.
“I have been with ICAN for many years and I’m glad they honoured me with their presence at my inauguration as ACU Vice-Chancellor. I once served as an ICAN reviewer and question setter, and my questions were always made compulsory. ICAN represents accuracy, accountability, and integrity, they are the hallmarks of a noble profession,” she said.
The VC also commended the conduct of ACU accounting students and encouraged them to pass their professional examinations before graduation.
In his remarks, the University Bursar, Dr. Olusanwo, described accounting as a profession recognised by God, adding that accountants are exceptional people. He prayed for continued success in the Vice-Chancellor’s tenure.
The celebration continued with a lively procession around the campus, ending at Ajayi Crowther University College, where senior secondary school students received a sensitisation talk on Accounting as a Profession.
The session, led by the Bursar, ICAN Oyo District Chairman, Dr. Williams Amao, and former Chairman, Mr. Adedibu Adeyinka, highlighted the importance of accounting to business and national development and encouraged students to uphold integrity and discipline.
A major highlight of the event was the presentation of cash gifts. The only accounting student in the secondary school, Oderinde Noah, received ₦10,000 from Dr. Amao, while the Bursar also gifted ₦10,000 each to Noah and his teacher, Mr. Esan Olakunle.
