Agric Students Showcase Entrepreneurial Skills, Visit VC

In a demonstration of Ajayi Crowther University’s commitment to holistic and value-driven education, 200-level students of the Faculty of Agriculture paid a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ebunoluwa Oduwole, on Monday, June 8, 2026, to showcase products developed through their entrepreneurship training.

The students presented a variety of items, including garri, liquid soap, and chinchin, all produced as part of the AGR 206 course, Family and Consumer Sciences, Food Science and Technology. The initiative highlights the university’s focus on combining academic excellence with practical skills that prepare students for self-employment and wealth creation.

Leading the students on the visit, the Head, Department of Agricultural Economics, Dr. Rhoda Adeniyi, explained that the training was designed to expose students to entrepreneurship and value-addition opportunities within the agricultural sector. She noted that the students were directly involved in every stage of production, from sourcing raw materials to processing, packaging, and presentation.

Dr. Adeniyi thanked the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Oduwole, for her support of initiatives that promote practical learning and entrepreneurial development among students. Also accompanying the students were Mrs. Ololade Olodude and Mrs. Odunayo Jegede.

Speaking during the visit, Mrs. Olodude disclosed that 16 students participated in the practical training, which aimed to equip them with marketable skills that can serve as additional sources of income and foster self-sufficiency after graduation.

Beyond the products on display, the students also prepared local delicacies such as amala and ogbono soup, as well as indigenous beverages including kunnu, zobo, and tiger nut juice, further demonstrating the depth of knowledge and practical competencies acquired through the programme, Mrs. Olodude added.
