Lagos Agog as Ex-ACU Students Host Mgt., Promise Support to Alma Mater

The bustling city of Lagos lived up to its ‘Lasgidi’ reputation on Sunday, 14th June 2026, as members of the Ajayi Crowther University (ACU) Lagos Alumni rolled out the welcome mat for the institution’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ebunoluwa Oduwole, and her management team. The event, an evening of robust networking and strategic dialogue, charted a clear pathway for the university’s future development.

Addressing the teeming alumni who turned out en masse, an appreciative Prof. Oduwole declared that there is no way the university can progress without its former students. She reiterated that engaging the alumni in key areas and facets of university life has been a major agenda since her assumption of office.

“The purpose of this gathering is to interact and engage,” the Vice-Chancellor said, charging the alumni to keep ACU in their design.

Echoing her sentiments, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Prof. Afolake Olanbiwonninu; Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics), Prof. Olukayode Binoyu; the Registrar, Dr. Bode Olofinmuagun; Bursar, Dr. Ayodele Olusanwo; and the University Librarian, Dr. Bose Ajiboye, all emphasised that it is high time the alumni took their rightful place in ACU’s governance and leadership. They charged the former students not to forget their roots, noting that the Vice-Chancellor is deeply passionate about the university’s products.

“Ajayi Crowther University is growing under Prof. Oduwole,” they said in unison, calling on the Lagos Alumni to grow together with the current administration.

In their various responses, alumni speakers described Prof. Oduwole’s initiative to attend the gathering as both laudable and historic. In unison, they agreed to come together and make a landmark contribution to ACU. They appreciated the university for shaping their lives and acknowledged that they now have a formidable front that can give back meaningfully.

Discussions touched on several areas of intervention, including the construction of a befitting guest house, the establishment of a microfinance bank for ACU, and the creation of ACU Business Schools. Many alumni volunteered support in all ramifications. The engagement also generated robust conversations on how to translate their shared vision into visible, meaningful development.

The outcome of the meeting is expected to position Ajayi Crowther University among the top contending higher institutions in Nigeria and beyond. All alumni members from both the Ibadan and Lagos chapters are encouraged to attend and actively participate in shaping the next phase of ACU’s growth.
