Philosophy
Industrial Chemistry is the study of the application of Chemistry and chemical technology in the exploitation of nature to synthesize new products for man. Technological breakthrough in Industrial Chemistry is a measure of industrial development of any society. The programme in Industrial Chemistry is designed to train students to acquire adequate knowledge and practical skills that can make them to be employable in virtually all types of industries. The programme is also designed to arouse entrepreneurial spirits required for self-employment and economic emancipation of the students.
Objectives
The specific objectives of the Industrial Chemistry programme are to:
- provide students with good background knowledge in physical, chemical, mathematical and biological sciences and their application in chemical sciences.
- provide adequate and modern teaching and research facilities that will stimulate curiosity of the students and encourage creative thinking and research aptitudes.
- train students to appreciate the enormous resources existing in their environment and challenge them to harness these resources for nation building.
- produce graduates with in-depth knowledge of Chemistry and a meaningful perspective of the chemical industry as a whole.
- inculcate appropriate skills for managerial abilities and technical administration in chemical and other allied industries.
