MOUNT ZION INSTITUTE, THREE OTHERS, SIGN MOU WITH AJAYI CROWTHER UNIVERSITY

Mount Zion Institute, Ile-Ife, Osun state, led by renowned director, script writer, actor and Christian movie producer, Evangelist Mike Bamiloye, and three other theological institutions, have formalised their affiliation with Ajayi Crowther University by signing of a Memorandum of Understanding(MOU) with the University at its Council Chamber on Monday August 10, 2020. The other institutions include Fresh Anointing Seminary and Leadership Institute, Akinale, Ogun State, Bethel Institute of Theology and West African College for Christian Mission, Sango-Ota, Ogun state.

At the signing ceremony, the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Rt. Rev. Professor Dapo F. Asaju, said it was proper that the institutions were affiliated to the University, in order to further improve the quality of their products. He reiterated that the University is currently located at the former premises of Saint Andrew’s College, Oyo, which has been in existence since 1896 as a foremost centre for dissemination of education and spirituality. He urged the affiliating institutions to ensure that they maintain the very high standards prevalent in the University. In the specific case of the of Mount Zion Institute, the Vice-Chancellor stated that the ministry has done a lot in the propagation of the gospel, saying that a lot of people would have been saved through their drama and Christian ministry.

He said the University owed it to the society to ensure that that those propagating the gospel are well trained, and enjoined the institutions not to whittle down the quality for which the place is known. He stated that the church brought education to Nigeria, and that prominent Universities in the world, including Oxford and Yale, were founded by the church, stating that the church should continue to keep high standards in education. In his response Mike Bamiloye and representatives of other affiliating institutions, thanked the University for the Affiliation, and promised that they will strive to maintain the high standards in the University. Bamiloye who came with his wife, Gloria, further said that the affiliation will encourage other people in the Christian drama ministry to do more, and know that the society appreciates what they do.

Principal Officers of the University, namely the Registrar Mrs. Adenike T. Fatogun, Bursar, Pastor Sampson Olojede and Librarian Dr. Mrs. Beatrice Fabunmi were at the occasion. The Dean of Faculty of Humanities, Most Rev. Professor George Lasebikan , Dean of Postgraduate school, Professor George Adediran, Head of Department of Department of Studies, Ven. Professor Taiye Aluko and representatives of the affiliating institutions were also at the event.
