INTERNALIZE THE INTEGRITY MODEL OF ACTS 6:1-7 IN GOVERNANCE-ATOWOJU ADVISES LEADERS
The acting Head of Department of Religious Studies of ACU, Ven. Dr Ayo Atowoju has said that leaders in Nigeria should always use as a template the integrity model of Acts 6:1-7 in governance.
He made this remarks during the first Faculty Lecture Series titled; Internalizing the Integrity Model in Acts6:1-7 in Electing Government Functionaries in Nigeria. The lecture was held on March 5, 2014 at the University Auditorium.
The Lecturer further stressed,that corruption, militia, ethnicity, and religious fanaticism are not the only threats to Nigeria as a nation, but the greatest danger to the country’s well being and national security interest is actually the combination of evil and personalization of the rule of law.The Lecturer, agreed that “bad leadership appears to be major cause of the Nigerian woes since Independence”
Dr Atowoju added that, there are two types of people in political position in Nigeria today they are;
i. The group that believes that politics is an investment and that when you put a little money into politics and you win a political position, then you collect every single dividend for yourself, your family and your friends. They think that there is so much money that government gives, so they also want to take their own share.
ii. The second category of people in political positions believe that politics is the capacity to do well, the capacity to serve rather than to have. Such people see their offices as the privilege to serve the people who do not have access to where national cake is being shared.
The Guest Lecturer, Dr. Atowoju urged Nigerians that in choosing their leader come 2015 they should follow Acts 6:1-7 because leadership naturally is a position held in trust for the people.
The Principal Officers led by the Vice-Chancellor Prof.Kolawole T.Jaiyeoba, DVC Prof. S.
