ACU PROPRIETORS COMMEND VC, DONATE FUNDS FOR RESEARCH
Proprietors of Ajayi Crowther University (ACU), Oyo, have commended the institution’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Timothy Abiodun Adebayo and his management team for the steady progress in the university, describing the university’s achievements in recent times as phenomenal.
The proprietors, under the aegis of The Archbishops and Bishops of the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, Board of the Supra West, comprising the five ecclesiastical Provinces of Lagos, Ondo, Ibadan, Bendel and Kwara, spoke through the Chairman who is also the Visitor to the university, The Most Revd Joseph Olatunji Akinfenwa.
The Most Revd Akinfenwa who spoke at the meeting of the Supra Diocesan Board West held at the university praised the VC for his dedication, diligence, hard work, and creativity in university administration and management, stressing that the owners of the university are pleased with the steady progress and achievements under the leadership of Prof. Adebayo.
Revd Akinfenwa later presented a cheque of Fifteen Millions Naira to the VC as a further donation towards research grants.
The Chairman also thanked notable individuals who have been contributing to the development of the university, including the Chancellor, Chief Sir Tunde Afolabi, immediate past Council Chairman, Chief Wole Olanipekun, and the current Council Chairman, Dr. Toyin Okeowo, pointing out that with their efforts, ACU is creating positive ripples across the globe.
Earlier, the Vice Chancellor had given the proprietors comprehensive reports about the developments in the university, saying that “ACU remains a secure, truly serene and adequately conducive for teaching and research”
While reeling out the achievements of the university in the last one year, Prof. Adebayo who disclosed that all academic programmes being run by ACU were accredited by the National Universities Commission (NUC), boasted that ACU was indeed living up to the standards given the available evidence.
For instance, he stated, “we added Nursing into the programmes in 2022,after initial visit by the NUC, in 2023, the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria, having been very impressed with our facilities and great promises of excellence that we demonstrated, approved 150 admission quota for our Nursing programme”
“This development has brought about the transition of our hitherto Bachelor of Nursing programme to Faculty of Nursing Programme, comprising four Departments including Pediatric Nursing, Surgical Nursing, Maternal and Child Health Nursing and Community Health Nursing”, Prof. Adebayo said.
The ACU boss however applauded the Council Chairman, Dr. Toyin Okeowo for single-handedly undertaking the construction of an ultra-modern and exotic university senate building.
