ACU signs MOU with University of Georgia
Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the University of Georgia, Athens, United States of America. The document was signed by the Vice- Chancellor Professor Timothy Abiodun Adebayo, on behalf of Ajayi Crowther University while Professor Akinloye Ojo, Director of the African Institute in the University of Georgia, signed it on behalf of the University of that University.
Ojo said it was expedient that the Vice- Chancellor of ACU should visit the University of Georgia to cement the relationship, and meet with the President of the University.
‘What we have done here is the first step towards collaboration between both Universities, and it would be beneficial to both institutions. It would involve the exchange of staff and students between both Universities. We have seen your University as a serious one, where staff and students are meaningfully engaged. We are delighted to enter into an MOU with you.’ Professor Ojo said.
In his response, the Vice- Chancellor said the University is delighted to enter into the Memorandum of Understanding because it would be beneficial to both staff and students.
‘I am delighted that we are going into this collaboration. As you have requested, I will find time to visit your University and meet with the President of the Institution. We are also working on having you come here to deliver our convocation lecture in September’ Professor Adebayo said.
It would be recalled that the move to sign the Memorandum of Understanding began in February when Professor Igbigbolade S. Aderibigbe, Associate Director of African Studies Institute in University of Georgia came to deliver the Faculty of Humanities Annual Lecture titled ‘ Institutional Academic Collaboration in the 21st Century: The Dynamics of Challenges and Prospects.
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Registrar, Dean of Faculty of Humanities, and Head of Department of Religion were on hand at the signing ceremony at the Vice-Chancellor’s office.
