BISHOP ODUNTAN COMMENDS VC, PRAYS FOR MANAGEMENT OF AJAYI CROWTHER UNIVERSITY
The Anglican Bishop of Crowther Diocese, Rt. Rev. O.O. Oduntan, has commended the Vice-Chancellor of Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo, Professor Timothy Abiodun Adebayo for his resolve to sustain the up-coming University Campus at Osoogun, the home town of the renowned evangelist, Late Bishop Samuel Ajayi Crowther, after whom the University is named.
Bishop Oduntan, under whose Diocese Osoogun falls, made the comment when he received the Vice-Chancellor on a working visit to the Osoogun, on Tuesday, March 16, 2021.
The Vice-Chancellor, who was accompanied by some members of the University Management, namely, the Registrar, Mrs. Adenike T. Fatogun, Bursar, Pastor Samson Olojede, Librarian, Dr. Mrs. Beatrice Fabunmi, visited the Osoogun Campus, in company of Bishop Oduntan.
The Bishop remarked that the visit would be the first official interaction between Crowther Diocese and the University. At the University Campus, still under construction, Bishop Oduntan expressed gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor for continuing with the Campus, saying that it was another way of immortalizing the renowned evangelist in his hometown. Bishop Oduntan said Ajayi Crowther’s influence transcended spreading the gospel. He said Bishop Crowther, the first African to become a bishop, also played big roles in Agriculture and other areas of human development.
The Vice-Chancellor and his team went round the buildings under construction and took note of areas that needed attention. The team also visited the house from where young Ajayi Crowther was captured by slave traders in 1821 at the age of 12. Before they left the campus, Bishop Oduntan prayed for the Vice-Chancellor, University Management, especially the Registrar, Mrs. Adenike T. Fatogun, who was winding down her tenure.
