Mutual Benefits Assurance boss promises to aid ACU development drive
The Group Chairman of Mutual Benefits Assurance Plc, Dr. Akinade Ogunbiyi, has promised to contribute to the development effort of Ajayi Crowther University.
Ogunbiyi made the promise during a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Timothy Adebayo, in his office. Speaking with the University’s media team after the meeting, the Mutual Benefits Assurance boss said he was impressed with the work of the VC in developing the school, adding that such good work deserves support.
He said, “I came to identify with the good work that the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Timothy Adebayo, is doing at Ajayi Crowther University. He is doing a wonderful work and incidentally, it was during the visit that I got to know that my bosom friend, Dr. Oluwatoyin Okeowo, is the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of the University.
“I am impressed with what I have seen. I had thought that the school was about five years old but I was stunned when I understood that it has been in existence for decades, graduating in status from Teachers’ College to a university.
“There are so many ways in which Mutual Benefits Assurance can collaborate with the University. We can be strategic partners to the school and from there, a lot of benefits will come to the school. That is exactly an area we discussed during my meeting with the VC.”
While thanking Ogunbiyi and his team for the visit, the Vice-Chancellor said that the insurance company boss ‘single-handedly’ painted the Faculty of Agriculture building of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.
The VC said, “In terms of size, the faculty building, which he painted, is 10 times bigger than the Olanipekun building here at ACU. It cost about ₦70m to do the painting some years ago and he is going to replicate that at ACU. He has promised to do so. He was my senior at OAU.” the VC stated.
