ACU’s Oduola to deliver lecture at University of Georgia

Ajayi Crowther University scholar, Dr. Mogbolahan Olalekan Oduola, is set to deliver a virtual lecture at the 2026 edition of the APERO: African Brown Bag Lecture Series at the University of Georgia on Tuesday, February 18, 2026.

Dr. Oduola will present a paper titled “Atiwaye-Ojo, Atiwo-Oorun: Structural and Architectural Semiotic Metaphor Discourse Exemplified in Selected UCH Building Facilities.

The lecture forms part of the annual APERO series organised by the African Studies Institute in collaboration with the Institute for African American Studies.

According to the organisers, APERO is an interdisciplinary forum designed to advance critical conversations on Africa and the African Diaspora. The platform brings together diverse voices to share research findings, innovative ideas, and lived experiences in a dynamic hybrid format that fosters global academic exchange.

The series features university-based scholars from the University of Georgia and other institutions, graduate students and early-career researchers, independent scholars, policy experts, development practitioners, artists, cultural producers, community leaders and professionals engaged in Africa and Diaspora related works.

Areas of interests include governance, public policy, history, literature, the arts, migration, diaspora studies, health and education, agribusiness and rural development as well as technology and digital cultures.

Dr. Oduola, a Harvard-trained scholar and Associate Professor of English at Ajayi Crowther University, is a specialist in Applied English Linguistics and Discourse Analysis.

His research advances critical scholarship and promotes interdisciplinary dialogue. As a Senior Research Fellow of the Institut Français de Recherche en Afrique (IFRA), he has published widely and contributed significantly to global academic discourse.
