Staff Fellowship compulsory for those who want blessings, signs and wonders – Says New VC

The new Vice-Chancellor of Ajayi Crowther University (ACU), Prof. Ebunoluwa Olufemi Oduwole, today attended the University’s Staff Fellowship for the first time in her capacity as Vice-Chancellor.

She joined the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Muyiwa Popoola, the Acting Registrar, Ven. Olusegun Ojo, the University Librarian, Dr. (Mrs.) Bosede Ajiboye, as well as Deans, Heads of Departments and Units, and hundreds of staff members across various departments for the worship session presided over by the Director, Institute of Education, Prof Olatunji.

After being introduced by the University Chaplain, Ven. Alvan Ewuzie, Prof. Oduwole took to the pulpit with special musical rendition.
Expressing her delight, the Vice-Chancellor celebrated with staff members born in September and October, noting that she also marked her birthday on September 10.

She thanked God for answered prayers, revealing that after serving in public universities for 40 years, she had asked God to grant her an opportunity to work in an environment where she could serve Him more fully. According to her, Ajayi Crowther University, as a faith-based institution, provides that perfect atmosphere.

She said, “If you take up your cross and follow Jesus, you will find joy and fulfillment,” she said. “God never owes a debt; He rewards our faith in Him. I want each of us to renew our commitment today to follow Jesus wholeheartedly. Whatever you seek, He can grant your desires.”

Prof. Oduwole pointed out that while attendance at the Staff Fellowship is not compulsory, participation brings spiritual blessings.
“The Staff Fellowship is not compulsory,” she noted, “but it becomes compulsory if you don’t want to miss out on the signs and wonders that happen there.”

She further directed that Monday Staff Fellowship and Wednesday Community Service hours must be lecture-free. The Vice-Chancellor also announced several innovations to improve the fellowship experience and the annual harvest celebration.

“There must be a Zoom link for those on official duties to join the staff fellowship. I’ll also connect virtually whenever I’m away on assignment. Our fellowship platform should focus on the weekly themes, allowing everyone to make meaningful contributions.”

On the annual harvest, she disclosed that the celebration would now feature state-based participation.

“Each state will have its own harvest day. I am from Ogun State, and on that day, everyone will dress in their state’s traditional attire as we celebrate and showcase our heritage,” she added.

Prof. Oduwole also announced that the University Senate would convene on Tuesday (tomorrow), during which she would unveil her 30-point agenda for ACU’s development over the next five years.

“As I said during my interview, every leader who has served this University has done exceptionally well and fulfilled a purpose. I have also come to fulfill mine, and I seek your support to make it a success,” she stated.

The Vice-Chancellor concluded by expressing deep appreciation to the University community for the warm reception she received during her inauguration ceremony on October 1, 2025.

“My family, friends, and well-wishers were amazed at the love and hospitality you all showed that day. We are truly grateful for the wonderful reception,” she said.
