Today, August 14, 2025, the T. Y. Danjuma Library, under the leadership of the University Librarian, Dr. (Mrs.) Bosede Ajiboye, hosted a warm and sumptuous send-forth in honour of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Timothy Abiodun Adebayo.

The Vice-Chancellor arrived at the venue in the company of his Deputy, Prof. Muyiwa Popoola; the Acting Registrar, Ven. Olusegun Ojo; and the Bursar, Dr. Ayodele Olusanwo. Also in attendance were the Acting Head of the Department of Library and Information Science, Dr. Olutoyin Oso, along with the entire library staff.

In an emotion-laden address, Dr. (Mrs.) Ajiboye showered praises on the Vice-Chancellor, describing him as a father, a role model, a listening leader, and an intelligent captain of the institution who is departing, leaving behind a lasting legacy of visionary leadership, academic excellence, and institutional growth.

She said that Prof. Adebayo will be deeply missed when his tenure as ACU’s Vice-Chancellor comes to a close, while also offering prayers for God’s continued grace and blessings upon him and his family. According to her, the Library operates at peak performance today because the Vice-Chancellor never withheld his support, granting every request that would enhance its service delivery to the community.

In her brief speech, Dr Oso was full of gratitude to the Vice Chancellor for taking interest in the career of all staff, making sure he encouraged their progress.

In his response, the Vice-Chancellor expressed deep gratitude to the Librarian and the entire library staff for the honour, acknowledging that every achievement recorded during his tenure was product of God’s grace.

He recalled that upon his arrival on campus as Vice-Chancellor, the sight of remarkable structures such as the University Library, the majestic Faculty of Law building, the Wole Olanipekun Lecture Hall, and other impressive facilities convinced him that his predecessors had laid a solid foundation for the University’s growth. According to him, what he met on ground served as a challenge and inspiration to accomplish even more within the timeframe of his tenure.

Prof. Adebayo also expressed appreciation to all principal officers for their support, which, he said contributed to his success as VC of ACU. He noted that the establishment of the Welcome Centre building, which is a dedicated facility for receiving both new and returning students into the campus, was a well thought of initiative which is the first of its kind in the history of Nigerian university system. He further noted that, despite various challenges, the long-awaited salary increment proposal was eventually implemented under his watch.
