About the Lecture
Our race, colour, language, nationality, culture, tasks and preferences introduce diversity into human existence. These differences create challenges of identity and the binary division of “self and the other,” which often leads to conflict — hate, alienation, racism, genocide, war and destruction.
Despite efforts across ideas and practice, destructive conflicts still prevail globally. Therefore, new frameworks are needed to unite humans toward the pursuit of a happy and meaningful life.
Prof. Oyeshile proposes the reconciliation of the self and the other, rooted in ethical and ontological principles, with implications across the arts, humanities, social sciences, sciences, and practical fields. Joint survival in a shared world is an imperative.
