VC, DVC to Attend Lead City Founder’s 70th Birthday Colloquium
The Vice-Chancellor and Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Ajayi Crowther University have been invited to participate in the 1st Colloquium organised in honour of the founder of Lead City University, Prof. Jide Owoeye as he marks his 70th birthday.
The ACU Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ebunoluwa Olufemi Oduwole, has been invited as a Special Guest at the event , while the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olumuyiwa Popoola, will serve as a panelist at the event.
The colloquium, organised by the Faculty of Communication and Information Sciences of Lead City University, is part of the activities celebrating the Owoeye, a distinguished scholar and education entrepreneur, whose contributions to higher education and private sector-driven educational development in Nigeria have been widely acknowledged.
Themed “Nigeria Higher Education and Private Sector Involvement: Navigating the Path, Confronting the Challenges, Exploring Opportunities for the Future,” organisers said the colloquium will examine the evolving role of private sector participation in advancing Nigeria’s higher education landscape.
Prof. Popoola is expected to speak on the sub-theme, “Sustaining Strategic Communication among Stakeholders,” where he will contribute to discussions on strengthening collaboration among university administrators, policymakers, private sector partners, staff, students, and host communities.
Other discussants include Prof. Shadrach Akindele, Vice-Chancellor of Redeemer’s University, Ede; Prof. Oyedunni Sola Arulogun, Vice-Chancellor of Chrisland University, Abeokuta; and Prof. Ibraheem Gbajabiamila, Vice-Chancellor of Crescent University, Abeokuta.
The event is scheduled to hold on Friday, February 27, 2026, at Adeline Hall, Lead City University, Ibadan.
The participation of both Prof. Oduwole and Prof. Popoola speaks volume of Ajayi Crowther University’s growing visibility as entrenched in the 30-point agenda of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Oduwole.
Organisers expressed confidence that their presence and contributions will add huge value to deliberations on the future of tertiary education in Nigeria.
